My daughter is 4 years old is attending Pre-K. Lately, she doesn't want to take turns with children to use the toys in the classroom. She had attached herself to a pony and refused to give it up. She had an automatic tantrum. Needless to say I was mortified. The teacher doesn't help any because she thinks this is inappropriate behavior for a 4 year old. She made me feel that something was wrong with my child. I don't believe there is, but she made me feel helpless. She associates school with fun and not so much learning. All she wants to do is play and doesn't want the fun to stop. When it does that's when she gets upset. At times she also tends to play by herself. Is this normal behavior? Another thing her teacher mentioned that children her age tend to gravitate with children their age and socialize. My daughter does, but maybe not as much. Her tantrums were uncontrollable and she made herself very upset. My daughter has a strong personality and likes to push limits to see how far she can get. Her teacher last year was a strict teacher and knew how to control her students. I don't feel this is the case this year with her new teacher.
I want to help my daughter in every way imaginable to succeed and be sociable with children her age. Another thing that her teacher mentioned that had me concerned was that she thought I should call her Pediatrician. Her doctor said she is fine and that she knows too much for her own good. Needless to say I'm concerned and confused.

Just wanted to add that i've changed my daughter's school schedule. Instead of attending in the afternoon, i've switched to the morning. I feel and i'm keeping my fingers crossed that maybe attending in the afternoon she becomes tired. I figured in the morning she will be fresh and ready to go.
I picked her up from school at 11:30 am today and the teacher said she was good. So I'm hoping that this change will benefit her. Let's see what tomorrow brings. I've also printed out a rewards chart that I printer on supernanny.com and she seems to like when we move the pirate boy up a number. She earned a small reward for reaching number 5. Any suggestions and advice that anyone can offer me is welcomed. Taking one day at a time and today was good day.
